The Homage Skateboard Academy

The Homage Skateboard Academy is an indoor skateboarding educational facility in Brooklyn. Their experienced instructors love to teach skateboarding and are constantly progressing in their teaching abilities, just like their skating abilities. They think that skateboarding is more than just a physical activity though, so they also teach about skateboarding culture and how skateboarding can change the way a person perceives their surroundings.

The Homage Skateboard Academy facilities allow for a teaching program suited to anyone interested in putting their two feet on a board, no matter how young or old, or what style of skateboarding the student is interested in. They can teach the basics of just riding on flat ground, or we can teach tricks and how to skate obstacles.

New york city brick by brick

It took many bricks to create the towers and skyscrapers of NYC—even the LEGO intrepretation of Gotham.

Artist Jonathan Lopes is set to release a new book titled New York City Brick by Brick, which focuses on the mini masterpieces he creates using NYC as his muse and LEGOs as his medium.

“While living in New York City for 25 years, I was so inspired by its architecture that I began replicating large scale icons with LEGO bricks," he said in a statement. "The exhibition at City Point will include highlights of my art including the Brooklyn Bridge, which is 17 feet long, Grand Central Terminal, which is made of 62,500 LEGO pieces and The Woolworth Building which stands just under 8 feet tall, among about 25 other works.”

The book signing and exhibit grand opening will take place at City Point 445 Albee Square West from noon–3pm on May 11. It'll then run for several days after the signing. All of the budding engineers in your family need to check it out!
